Christian Hope

by GAT written 10/23/2025 updated 12/06/2025

Old Testament saints hoped for God's Messiah, the promised Redeemer-Savior who would appear at Mount Zion in Jerusalem. When God sent His own Son into the world many of His own rejected and crucified Him (Isa 7:14, John 1:14). "and He saw that there was no man, and was astonished that there was no one to intercede; then His own arm brought salvation to Him, and His righteousness upheld Him" Isa 59:16. After God raised Christ from the dead, He "seated Him at His right hand" in heaven (Eph 1:20). This was spoken about by David, who wrote "YHWH says to my Lord, 'Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet' " Psalm 110:1.

The New Testament saints hope for Christ's return when He will resurrect believers and defeat His enemies. "I looked, and there was no one to help, and I was astonished and there was no one to uphold; so My own arm brought salvation to Me, and My wrath upheld Me" Isa 63:5. Jesus Christ is returning. Having believed God's testimony of Jesus Christ and having confessed His Name, our hope is that we who have died to ourselves in Him will also be raised from the dead as He was.

Romans 8:11

But if the Spirit
  of the one having awakened
    Jesus
      out from dead [ones]
        dwells in you,
  the one having awakened
    the Christ
      out from dead [ones]
        will make alive also
          your mortal bodies
by means of the indwelling of His Spirit in you.
